Which online banking apps can do these two simple things?

I am currently with First Direct and their online banking app is falling short in two key tasks (that I was able to do with a previous overseas bank). Can anyone's banking app or web based online banking do the following:
- I would like to be able to search through my banking history for a transaction by text, usually to search for a payee (e.g. 'Tesco') ideally between two dates, and view the results. Even better use other filters.
- When I transfer money between accounts, I would like to be able to add a reference to the transfer e.g. to identify in my statement what it was for (e.g. ‘Pay for holiday’).

Lloyds/BsS/Halifax and Starling have excellent search facilities in their app. Nationwide's search is ok, too.
All UK current account providers allow you to add a max 18-digit Reference to your payments. Whether this Reference appears on your and/or the recipient's statement is a different matter. With Starling, you can add a note (of any length), and even attachments (e.g. photo of an invoice) to your transactions2 -

If you can't do it with First Direct then I doubt you'll be able to do it with HSBC either. I can't speak for Santander, NatWest/RBS or Virgin.
Your only option might be to open a Barclays account.0 -
What if, you use the 'pay' option, instead of using the 'transfer' between account option? I haven't tried it but it might work.3
