British Gas - free 100 days

Hi there - has anyone had an email from British Gas saying if you switch to them for dual fuel you get credited with 100 days of fuel costs ?
I'm trying to work out if this is a good deal - BGs tariffs aren't the cheapest in the first place....

No such thing as a free lunch.  Read email and the T&Cs very carefully.
  • I realise that it looks too good to be true - but couldn't see anything in the small print or elsewhere - hence looking for help on this forum.

If it's anything like the 100 days free they were offering on their Rewards site it is something like 100 days equivalent for the hours of 9 - 5, i.e 1/3rd of a day.. during quite a low usage period as people are at work (in normal times 🙄), and based on any average estimated consumption over 12 months.  So about in total worth about 30-35 full days worth or 8% to 10% of annual amount.

Also, on the Rewards deal, if you just take Electricity obviously it covers Electric portion, but if you choose Dual Fuel you don't get it on both...just the Electricity!!   I think I calculated it was worth about 4% in total for me and given the cheapest BG tariff this was applicable for was 25% more expensive it was a great bargain...not.

As Neil says check the T&Cs very very closely

Thanks for that - I'll do some calculations - but it looks like it's a no go
