What does your existing Office not do that you need it to do?

Office for Mac 2011 changed the hardware requirements so it will only work on Intel macs, not the older ones.

And why are you looking at 2008 when you are already on 2010?

It was the last version to support PowerPC processors and there are some who still run old Macs using the previous non-Intel CPUs who may want to upgrade or have recently bought an old machine for a laugh and want to install Office.

Alternatively, older version tend to be cheaper and so if it has all the features you need why pay more for a newer version? What is your 2011 missing that is getting you to spend more money?

Lots of exploitable vulnerabilities in older versions of office, at least on the Windows platform. It is, sadly, a product for which security updates are important.

LibreOffice is often worth trying out. If it meets your needs, it will save you some money.
