I'm thinking of buying an item from someone and is there any alternatives rather then PayPal that I can transfer money over securely?

The only other safe payment method for named goods or services would be a credit card , is it you or the retailer that doesn’t want to use PayPal?riffy2016 said:I'm thinking of buying an item from someone and is there any alternatives rather then PayPal that I can transfer money over securely?I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Well the person I'm buying from says their account is under review and will take a month to receive payment so has asked me to find one that is secure. So if I were to buy from that person using credit card I'm covered if the item doesn't turn up?0

Just be careful the ‘my PayPal is under review ‘ excuse is a well known trick of a scammer , a credit card will give you some protection depending on the amount you are spending and you might want to check exactly what you need on invoices etc to be secure. I would check first with the retailer though that he has a facility for taking credit cards remotely .riffy2016 said:Well the person I'm buying from says their account is under review and will take a month to receive payment so has asked me to find one that is secure. Do you think you should think twice about someone that tells you their PayPal is under review and will take a month.....if they take credit card then you need to check what protection you have S75 or chargeback before you continue. Ask yourself if you should pay by another means to suit the seller? Are they likely to take CC?riffy2016 said:Well the person I'm buying from says their account is under review and will take a month to receive payment so has asked me to find one that is secure. Perhaps take a moment and think.
Paypal is a VERY secure way for a buyer to purchase an item.
As a seller, why would you want an alternative?1 -
My bank advised me to use Paypal and only Paypal when buying anything online. I don't accept any excuses.0

He/she is almost certainly trying to scam you. As others have said, this is a classic scam.riffy2016 said:Well the person I'm buying from says their account is under review and will take a month to receive payment so has asked me to find one that is secure. Unless it is a well established business with a physical address or you can buy for cash on collection, walk away. Any other payment method to an unknown private individual is likely to end badly for you.
Don't get suckered because you really want the item or it is a bargain price.
A man walked into a car showroom.
He said to the salesman, “My wife would like to talk to you about the Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
Salesman said, “We haven't got a Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
The man replied, “You have now mate".0 -
