Hi All, I'm think in right in saying that the year of inception for SMT is 2000. Can anyone point me to performance charts going back to this far The 10 year chart is obviously readily available. I maybe looking with my eyes shut.
Many thanks.
Many thanks.

Fund was launched 1909 . Chart will go to 1995. Bookmark Trustnet as it's one of the best out there.

I wrongly assumed 1909 was a typo !coastline said:Fund was launched 1909 . Chart will go to 1995. Bookmark Trustnet as it's one of the best out there.

Exactly. Many people rush to invest in a fund after a bout of stellar growth. Wisdom might suggest not.Bobziz said:Thanks all, that helps to put recent performance into context 😳1 -
A recent article in one of the financial on line comics opined that SMT was now in bubble territory and this was mainly due to its large tech holdings.Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0

I've just been looking at examples recently after some huge gains in funds this year. Many charts on Trustnet show funds moving ahead only in the last few years which skews performance longer term . Well done to SMT holders anyway.BananaRepublic said:

Using the Trustnet Top Quartiles link I've set it to show IA Unit Trusts in the Global sector and selected all 1 yr 3yr and 5yr views in the top quartile. There's 39 I think in there but they aren't all large cap global funds so comparisons with the MSCI World Index can't really be made. Plenty of Smaller and Opportunity funds in there.

Plenty show different performances when set to 5yrs and then 10yrs. Liontrust has a decent record but not always outperforming the MSCI World set at 5yr and 10yr. It's not easy picking winners. Maybe a world tracker fund and a few active funds and keep monitoring progress ?

If only they could nibble away like this ?

You are right with 2000 as that is when the management and philosophy changed and past history would not be of much relevance. The ground work for the gains from 2010 onwards was set in the first decade by changing the focus, selling out of positions and getting the PE startups lined up.
2004 was when they bought Amazon and then things started to happen.1
