Thanks for the time taken to respond to the post, I do appreciate it. I think what I'm going to do is pay up, then go back around with my travel insurance and get the money back that way.0

Not an expert on your particular problem, so I cannot comment. However, regarding the debt collector, debts from abroad usually just attract a few letters, then get forgotton about, and are returned to the original creditor, the DCA is just acting on behalf of their client, they do not own the debt, so are basically toothless. Its unlikley the company concerned will start legal action in the UK, the bark is normally worse than the bite.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. You cannot turn to anyone... the company believes you have breached their contract by not paying them (you've had the money back) and so they are free to pursue you for the consequences of breach of contract. As the defendant you have little/no control on the process and its up to them if they decide to issue court proceedings against you.zanarchist said:So, a Danish company has engaged an Irish company to pursue a debt in the UK, which I don't believe I owe. Which resource can I turn to dispute this? Is it the UK Financial Ombudsman? Is it something European?
The Financial Ombudsman Service covers complaints from UK private customers about their financial services providers. The villa booking company is not a financial service company and they have a complaint about you not the other way around.0
