flight refund

hi was supposed to fly to tenerife 22nd december got to airport to be told if we didnt have spanish passport we could not fly when asked easyjet for refund said by law they didnt have to asflight went they said the didnt refuse me they did contacted travel insurance who informed me £100 excess for myself and same for my wife as flights value was£169.70 for two of us so they refused went to lloyds credit card who i booked flights with they have said no this cant be right surely i didnt get what i paid for can anyone help or advise please

  • Unfortunately country entry requirements are the responsibility of the passenger. As the flight went you aren't entitled to a refund from the airline and subsequently your credit card.

    It is a matter for your insurance however given you bought insurance with that excess and your loss is below it you cannot make a claim as you have found out.

    In future you should make sure you are upt o date with entry requirements as Easyjet would have probably allowed you to make free changes if you had contacted them in advance when it became clear you wouldn't be allowed in to Spain.

    Generally the higher the excess the cheaper the policy. You should have been advised of the excess amount when you selected the policy. You can buy policies with £0 excess but these will cost more.
