    Hi

Sorry for late reply, sometimes I need a break from debt busting as otherwise it tends to take over everything else and I get a bit obsessed!  Debt still steadily going down although some of the home improvements we'd planned to do over the next six months have become more urgent so just trying to sort that out.

We have a new front door being fitted soon which I will use the emergency fund for.  We also need the boiler doing before the winter so looking to have that done within the next few months - will continue saving for that.  I've had quotes for both of them so know how much I need to have saved in total.

Finally, the kitchen situation is getting dire and we desperately need that doing as well.  Mortgage is up for renewal soon and we may see if we can borrow a little extra so we can get the kitchen done, depending on how much it costs.  If too expensive we will have to put up with the dodgy kitchen for a bit longer and save like mad!

Afternoon all, hope everyone is doing well.  New boiler has been ordered ready to be fitted later on this year.  Bought it now as apparently Worcester Bosch are increasing their prices by 6% on 1 June.  Not actually being fitted until September but the company we're using to fit it has ordered it for us now and we will store it until we're ready.  New door is being done at the end of June.  Good thing is that both the boiler and the door will be paid from our home improvements/emergency fund.  I think this must be a first for me as normally it would go on credit!  We now have just over £2,400.00 in the pot and by the time September comes we will have saved another £1,300.00 at least - currently saving £325.00 per month.  I've also done a bit of overtime the las few weeks so should have about another £150.00 at the end of this month which I can also put towards it.

Had to pay for the boiler today so that's £1,560.00 gone from my emergency/home improvements fund.  Feels good that I've been able to pay for it without having to resort to sticking it on credit and it will soon build back up.  Had quite a productive day today, have taken an inventory of the freezer and plan on sitting down tomorrow night and working out a meal plan to cover everything I have.  I've also written out a comprehensive report on everything that needs doing to the house and excited to tackle the list!

    Hi everyone

Had a nice surprise today, came home from work to find a letter from M&S Bank with a cheque for £50.00 - apparently they have "reviewed the quality of service" received from their Collections/Recoveries department and decided that it fell short of their expectations so they are compensating me for the lack of service!  This has come completely out of the blue so was a nice little surprise.  I have two birthdays coming up in June so will put it towards that.

On another note I finally had the quote and plans through for my proposed new kitchen so I'm super excited about that.  The appliances have come up a bit on the expensive side so I will see if I can find them cheaper elsewhere, otherwise it's not as bad as I was expecting it to be.

Direct debit has come out today for Virgin Money so another £150.00 has come off the total debt.  On Friday another £55.00 will come out for the Tesco card.  Appointment has been made to see the mortgage adviser to sort out the remortgage so feeling organised.

£55.00 paid today to the Tesco card.  Total paid so far is £1,814.00 and I'm now officially under the £5,000.00 mark!  Put £500.00 back in the emergency/home improvements funds so that's back up to just over £1,300.00 now.  As well as the kitchen, door and boiler we are also having some electrical works done and I've also received a quote for that.  Going to be a busy few months ahead but at least when it's all finished I can concentrate on throwing extra money to the credit cards.

Hi everyone, had a busy day today.  Bought some more plants for the garden and planted up some more containers.  Cut the grass too as it was getting a bit long after all the rain we've had!  Need to choose some new tiles and flooring for the kitchen so plan on doing that over the weekend, and hopefully making a decision as to what to go for.  Meeting my friend for a long overdue catch up on Monday so looking forward to that.
