H&M refund less than amount paid due to member reward. Is this breaching consumer rights?

I bought several items from H&M and at checkout applied £3 off the total which I had received as a member reward. I returned 1 item which cost £10 but only received £8.85 in refund. I contacted them and they said the £3 reward voucher was applied across the entire order and thus they calculate that the item I returned in fact cost £8.85. I know it's not much difference but in my view this should not be legal. They should at least refund the difference in points. Does anyone know what the correct answer to this is? Is there anyone I can complain to? Thank you.

I don't see anything wrong with what they've done in principle, but without knowing the terms of the member reward scheme I can't say for sure.  Do you earn points per pound spent or similar?  If so, did the total purchase that day trigger a £3 reward?  Surely if you've had an £8.85 refund, the £1.15 of reward value goes back onto your account?

As to who you could complain to, it's H&M.  It's their reward scheme.  No one else will be interested.

Makes sense it's a pro rata refund, why on earth would it not be legal?
