Octopus Agile vs Go faster
Hi,
Finally after over 6 month with Octopus, I got my smart meter installed. My intention back in January was to change into the agile ASAP, but the SM took long. No I went and checked the agile tariffs, and OMG they are crazy. So after some research I found the Go faster. The 5h 20:30 could work pretty well for me (setting up dishwasher, dryer washing machine on that 5h gap).
The other thing I´ve noticed is that the last 2 days, agile has been lowering prices which is relatively good, so I have a couple of questions.
1) Is it worth jumping into Go faster and waiting for agile to settle at lower prices and then changin to agile, maybe for spring/summer months? or maybe just jump into agile as it seems to be going down.
2) Do Go tariff have any fix period you need to remain or can you switch whenever you want? How long do switched take.
3) I have seen some octopus agile apps on the app store, some of them which are actually pay apps but some free. Any recomendations around these?
Thanks for the support.

Email smart@octopus.energy and seek an invitation to join the Octopus Smart Energy Forum. The terms and conditions attached to Agile and Go are shown on the Octopus website but there is a lot of knowledge in the forum. There are a number of Apps and which is best depends on how you want to use the information. Octopus Watch is probably the best App for Agile. I am on Go and I prefer (at the moment) Octopus Compare as it provides me with daily costs for Go based on my actual usage and it allows me to compare the cost with Agile.
Bear in mind, Octopus ToU products are BETA tariffs. All bills are based on 30 minute usage not meter readings. For a bill to be raised, all 30 minute data has to be available to Octopus’ billing system.0 -

I have downloaded Octopus Compare, can I compared more than 2 products? for example rather than agile and one go, compare agile, and 2 go faster tariffs.

I think that it just limited to 2 products. Remember, the ‘weakness’ of ToU tariff comparisons is that it doesn’t take into account load shifting. For example, on Agile you need to actively avoid the 4 to 8pm period: clearly, not a problem on Go or Go Faster. Go Faster is a also limited trial and not all time periods are available as it is a data collection exercise for Octopus.0
