An airline blacklisting passengers?

If they've been blacklisted for doing a chargeback, I think it's more likely that it's their website account, email address, passenger name and/or passenger home address that will be on the backlist (maybe alongside IP address).

Have they created a new website account with the airline, with a different email address? Although TBH, the airline's website probably has sophisticated anti-fraud checks that are good at identifying those kinds of 'tricks'.

The blacklist checks and anti-fraud checks are probably only done when you hit the "buy" button.

Has anyone else who had to resort to a S75 to get a refund for flights last year had trouble rebooking this year? A close family member has had his and his partner's card rejected at the payment stage despite a healthy credit card balance. We wonder whether his url has been blacklisted by said airline, not known for its consumer care, or whether there might be a less paranoid reason.
You seem to be getting your terms mixed up. The URL is the address of the website he would be visiting and is the same for everyone who visits it.
He will have a unique IP address that they can see (Which will be the external IP address of their router if they are connected to one). Restarting the router and clearing the cookies will give a new IP address and erase the record of him visiting the site but they will still have to enter their name and address so they can be traced this way in their systems.

Just to advise - doing this is no guarantee of changing the IP address. Changing the router (or its MAC address) might work, but only restarting the router rarely changes the IP address these days. :)
I wish this was the case with my router because it changes every time it restarts!

That's interesting - who is your ISP and what type of broadband do you have? (I'm with BT on fibre broadband - FTTC. If I reboot my router my IP address doesn't change - at least I can't remember it changing. Edit: by this I mean even rebooting the fibre modem - I have separate devices - doesn't make the IP address change).

A simple restart may well grab the same IP address, but turning off and leaving for 10 minutes or so will often grab a new one.
I don't care about your first world problems; I have enough of my own!

I assume you mean your on FTTP if you have a fibre modem?

I'm with BT and have FTTC and if there is a short power cut or any loss of connection i get a new IP address, i know this because i access some devices from outside my home using the external IP so have to change it each time.

I was sure I responded to this earlier 👀

I meant FTTC - but I have a HH4 which means I have a separate VDSL (not strictly fibre) modem. I'll have to try and remember to check this next time I feel the need to reboot the modem. :)
