Mortgage gone back to pre-offer?

Options
Hi, we are due to complete on Friday and today I spoke with Halifax about payment dates who then told me my offer (6th November 2020) has gone back to pre-offer!!! After much passing around from one team to the next I was eventually told that it is a glitch on the system which ‘kicks the offer off’ and it will be back on by the end of the day but the underwriters have to press a button!! Obviously I’m now absolutely terrified! Has anyone heard of this? I’ve gone through a broker and she rang them and was told the same thing. I was credit checked again this morning though (I assume as the solicitor has requested release of funds) and I could now cry.  Is this common? The Halifax guy said one in ten but I mean this is just terrible for the anxiety!!!

Your solicitor will be handling everything and will be in contact in anything arises.

My solicitor says she hasn’t heard anything at all. Her assistant is ringing this afternoon. It’s just horrible! Xx

Why would the solicitor. Lenders have internal processess to follow before releasing thousands of pounds. All normal practice.

Appreciating this is rather stressful for you - try not to worry unnecessarily.  You've already spoken with Hfx and they've explained what's happened.  Yes, you could argue that these sorts of 'glitches' really shouldn't happen but if the CS person you spoke with wasn't overly concerned - then you should rest assured it'll be sorted by the end of the day.  Even if it takes another day or two, you've still go plenty of time before you complete - but also, as has been said, leave this with your solicitor for now.
  • It really common. Halifax system is very old and going from offer to preoffer multiple times during the transaction isnt unheard of.   Someone probably went in to the case to check a note and that was enough to do it.   Happens all the time when i worked in Halifax nearly 20 years ago and it still happens now.   They obviously dont think it causes enough hassle to justify the cost of fixing it

Thanks that’s really reassuring. I just hope it goes back to offer in time for us to complete for Friday. Xx

Think this nearly happened to me. I called up after the valuation for an update. The advisor confirmed my offer had been issued but then said something like he couldn't click into it in case he accidently sent it back a step.

Unless your circumstances have changed then you’ve nothing to worry about if they do another check.
