When I use my tablet to try to scan in a cheque to HSBC, they ask for account, then amount, then the words Licence Expired appear, and it wont take a photograph.

Does your tablet have the app or are you opening internet banking?
Most banks that enable you to scan cheques only let you use the app on a smartphone.
If you have been able to do this previously with cheques - check that you have the most up to date software version on your tablet?0 -
Hi jones, I am using the HSBC app on my samsung galaxy tablet. It has worked, in May, July and August 2020. Software updated to November 2020, seems to e the latest.
I wonder if HSBC have changed things at their end?.0
