  • For an adult account the Lloyds banking group accepts benefits letter dated within 12 months stating full name and what entitlement is to benefit, then a tax coding letter from HMRC for current tax year (if she rings them it normally takes about 10 days if she does not have one already).They also accept GP registration card again if it has full name and address.

    All these are free with no cost or faff to obtain.
    The main problem after getting the required ID will be getting an appointment to open the account.
    If you can help her open the account online you would be able to take the ID to your nearest branch to confirm.
  • If she is on the electoral roll, she should be able to open an account online.
    She could also try her savings account provider online and any ID problems, just let the application expire.
