O/S Daily Monday 18 January 2021
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Still dark, no rain but air feels cool.
DH and DS1 getting ready for work, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here. DS2 settled and happy.
Lunch yesterday was roast beef, roasties, mash, swede, carrots, green beans, broc, brussels, yorkshires and gravy - there's some LO's which I'll use to make another dinner either tonight or tomorrow night. Really seeing the benefit of sorting the fridge - I can really see what I have and it's great that the produce is sorted and either in ziplock bags or lidded containers - nothing is disappearing under loads of other stuff and then being forgotten until it goes off and you discover a manky mess in the veg drawer!
We were lazy yesterday just chilled and had lunch, beef was nice and I managed not to ruin it - although I cooked it a bit more than how we like it.
Back to work this morning, the weeks seem to be flying past. I noticed yesterday how much the night's are pulling out also, although yesterday was a bright sunny day it was still light at 4.50pm.
Keep safe and well x

Good morning and thanks for starting NMLC. it is lighter in the evenings isn't it, great to see.It seems to be just damp out there, no frost or snow, though as I've said before our little town seems sheltered. Elderly friends who only live about 3 miles away still have snow but they're higher up than us.Not a lot happening today, except we'll facetime Dgd as it's her 8th birthday. We went out for a walk yesterday, so did everyone else I think - we just walked round the outskirts of the town, and it was busy with walkers. It was a bright day, cold though, and everyone seemed to take the opportunity to get out in the sunshine. We will prepare to paint our bedroom today, the carpet needs cleaning as well, it's silver grey and looking in need of a freshen up - it's only 4 years old so doesn't need replacing. We can borrow DD',s carpet cleaning thing and do it maybe later in the week.Hope everyone has a good day - take care folks13

Morning all.
Thanks for the start nmlc. Your unsorted veg drawer sounds strangely familiar.
Berry! It's cold here this morning. No frost or anything like that, but still pretty chilly. I might venture out for a quick walk down to the post box and back. That will take all of 20 minutes, but still it's a bit of fresh air.
I made the lasagne I was promising myself yesterday and had some sauce left over, so chucked some cheese in and made a macaroni cheese. Then I didn't really fancy eating any of it, so lunch was beans on toast and the rest went into the fridge and will be frozen on portions today, if I can find enough spaces in the freezer.
I still find it strange cooking for one after feeding the masses for so long.
I hope everyone is feeling better today. Hope your DD hears that the evil ex has been apprehended Ruby.
Nothing much else happening so I won't bore you.I believe that friends are quiet angels

Morning All
There's a lovely sky this morning but of course a red sky in the morning usually means rain, more rain. It didn't stop from about 11am yesterday, quite heavy at times.
I went for a walk yesterday and fell (literally) at the first hurdle (or gate). Black ice on the pavement outside the drive saw me slip and land on my knee but in true British style I got up and went for a walk anyway! This morning I'm sporting a cut and bruised knee but it could have been so much worse.
Work today, hurrah, gives me something to do and I get to see some other people for a distanced chat. Hoping it's busy so I'm not sat twiddling my thumbs.
I bought some different coal that isn't nearly as messy as the one I've been buying, slightly more expensive but worth it. Washing on the pulley, I even did some ironing yesterday!
Thinking of you Ruby (and your DD), Marie, and dp1's DD. Free hugs for anyone else in need.
Happy Monday, take care. XX11 -
Morning all! I'm trying something exciting and new today. A tour around a clothes shop via video chat. I need a pair of trousers and another top because i virtually live in my two hoodies, so I thought I'd give it a whirl and see what's available. She seems amenable to posting to where I live so let's hope I find something suitable. After that, breakfast, then a general tidy/declutter of the kitchen. The extension lead I was using for the cooker and kettle decided it didn't want to live so gave up the ghost meaning I can't have the cooker on when I need the kettle because the leads aren't long enough. A bit of a jig round may happen. Be still my beating heart at the excitement.Other than that, nothing has happened. Oh has an interview for a job tomorrow over another video chat so we've [ mostly me] have been trying to set that up on a borrowed laptop. My computer doesn't have a webcam and my microphone headphones are knackered. It took me an hour to set him up on this program on Saturday and then another hour and half last night to get it working. Hope its worth it.Camelot, ouch, hope it gets better quickly. Everyone always says arnica but to be different, I say honey
bella, give yourself time to think and stuff before you decide anything. No need to rush into decisions.. Ruby, hope you're healing well. Marie, hugs. Hope you're all doing as OK as you can be. Hey all reading along, good thoughts and happy dances today....Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi11 -
Morning all
Its very quiet on here this morning hopefully everyone is enjoying a nice long lay in although I bet thats not the case !
Hard frost here this morning everything looks white and the cars are frosted over, dd is off to a meeting this morning so it will be just me and big pup for a while.
My brother has gone for a biopsy of his tummy today they will go down the throat and try and get a sample, hopefully this will give them a clear idea of any treatment they can give him, he looks so poorly though and is unable to eat any solids at all atm, I think he is on self distruct a bit as he has stopped taking the laxatives the Dr gave him which is causing him a lot of pain, my sister and I had a word with him yesterday and he has promised to do as he is told from now on but I wont hold my breath on this !!
Not sure about dinner tonight will go and have a look in the freezer after this but I might do a jacket potato with cheese ham etc unless inspiration strikes me later.
Have good days all and stay safe xx

Just reporting back, the cam shopping went OK, I've picked three tops and a pair of trousers so assuming the post goes well, I should get them this week.Ruby,I'm so sorry. I hope they can give him some treatment to make him feel better.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi11

Good morning, it is surprisingly nice here, though chilly. I might get more than 5 minutes in the garden before my hands go numb.
I have nothing to say except the naan idea for a pizza base really worked well, it was a garlic and coriander one. Waste not, want not and all that jazz. I used garlic in the tomato topping too so probably we stink but there is nobody to smell us so never mind.
Went for a walk yesterday, if it stays fine, will do the same today.
I now propose to ignore my jobs for most of the day.
Hope everyone has a decent day, with special thoughts to those of us who are having a hard time at the moment.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back12 -
Hi everyone!! Gosh these weekends go fast!!
Yesterday was my daughters first time going to work - yeehaw - she did a day with her brother, a small business just need some extra help and there are only 3/4 of them and so happy that she can socially distance, to be honest it will have helped her more mentally just to get out of the house and earn some money - she is only 16 and can't do anything at the mo to add to her personal statement for uni so anything is good!!
Hopefully DS starts back some online uni stuff today, I really hope they can give him a little back from his halls of residence that he can't use but has to pay for as well - hey ho!!
Poor DH broke off part of a filling this weekend so has to see dentist this week (more money down the drain! I need to work myself up to making an appointment as well !)
As we had roast pork sat and roast chicken last night there is lots to use up tonight so just reheat! Even still have some soup left over. Have meal planned for the week and went to Ald! early doors this morning - shame no-one seems to understand social distancing in there it makes me sad. Anyway I got in and out fast with the essentials - the only extra ! bought was a base ski layer - £5.99 for a lovely blue pair to go under my jeans or leggings as I just seem to be permanently cold at the moment, or too hot!! (peri menopause I suppose) Healthy eating was on hold last night and enjoyed my apple crumble and cream and a gin and tonic but back on it today.
Hope everyone is keeping safe and we are on the way to being vaccinated (I turned 50 last year and cannot wait to be vaccinated, hopefully in a few months!!) I am trusting that it will be a big turning point in 4-6 weeks with hospitalisations etc and things starting to get back to normality
Right better do some work even though my laptop on the blink!!

Morning all, bit of a grey day with showers & heavy rain forecast later. I have been missing posting again , mainly catching up on sleep, we can't seem to get up at our usual time atm, but also DH had really bad chest/upper stomach pains the other night which ended with an ambulance coming around 11.30. 3 paramedics came in and plugged a monitor in & various other tests before whisking him off to A&E.I couldn't go with him of course so DS and I spent a few anxious hours waiting for a call. He had an Ecg, chest xray the works really- he said they were brilliant. No signs of heart attack which is what he feared.Anyway after a blood test came back ok he was allowed to go with a prescription for gastric symptoms and the GP will be in touch. Scary at the time, he seems better now though and has gone to do a bit of work. Not much else to report. I may do some cardmaking in a bit, got a few coming up. My DB,SiL and niece seem to be getting a bit better after their Covid, worst thing seems to be the lack of energy. Anyway hugs to those in need and take care xx:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)11
