How much impact does opening a joint account have?

My partner and I really need to open a joint account but I suggested doing a credit check first because my score is low and I didn’t want to negatively impact his by being associated... However, turns out his is lower.
I’ve been steadily building mine for the last year or so and got it up to 275 and his is currently at 180 (both out of 700.. via ClearScore).
I do understand that credit score’s don’t actually mean much and I have read all about what lenders take into consideration but I thought this was the best/easiest way of comparing (we will want a joint mortgage eventually)... So, roughly how much (or in what way) will opening a joint account effect my credit file/rating?

Lenders will view the other's file when you apply for credit. So if their history is poor, it won't increase your chances of decline.
However, its only their history and circumstances that will be considered, not the pretend score.
In general, unless you both manage your credit well, don't associate.0 -
Revolut does 'spare' debit cards for £5. Depending why you need a joint acc that might be an alternative. If it's a case of 2 people spending 1 salary, then him having your spare card with your name on it could work just as well0
