  • Was there anyone in the other car when it was hit?
If so, there is still the possibility of the occupant putting in a claim for personal injury sometime in the next few years.
Unlikely to happen but the possibility may still be there.

Car was parked and empty. Its been paid now any way
Would still be worth for something in writing confirming receipt of the money and that has resolved the issue from her point of view, might save hassle in future and she shouldn't have any problem in providjng a receipt I would have thought.

It's cheaper than declaring the claim next 5 years.

However when paying, write letter or something with reg mark and this matter is settled in full or soemthing.
  • Arguing over a £90 get out of jail free card......

Why are you more bothered about the £90 repair (very reasonable) instead of bollocking your son ,telling him to be more observant from now on and maybe some more lessons to improve his clearly poor driving ability

As for saying ' improve his poor driving ability this had nothing to do with what I was asking and as you do not know the circumstances surrounding this car bump then keep your opinions to yourself
He reversed into a stationary object. What more needs to be known?

He put his car into reverse , clearly didn't look where he was reversing and hit a large stationary object

So yes we do know the circumstances

Motor insurers ask about incidents not just claims and so whilst its probably cheaper it doesnt stop the need to declare for the 3-5 years insurers ask about

It's relevant as long as people keep wanting to reply, that's how forums work....

It's a little pointless deleting the original post when it's already been quoted. I guess this thread didn't go the way you wanted.
