Credit Card or Debit Card?

in Credit cards
Now that I no longer have a cashback credit card (Nationwide Select Credit Card) or bank accounts (Santander 123 lite , BOS/Halifax Reward and BoS Vantage) that pay worthwhile interest on the money I have in the bank to pay the credit card bill, is there any point in using a credit card for everyday (once a week at present) grocery shopping, or the occasional pint of milk?
I will still use my credit card for section 75 cover for large or single purchases.
So I think I will start using my debit cards.
What do other people think?
Debit or Credit card for everyday shopping?

Credit card every time, unless it's a cash transaction.1

I know the benefits are not as good as they used to be but there are still some advantages. Like when returning online purchases for example. Often the refund arrives before the CC bill is paid, so zero cashflow implications. OK, not exactly a show-stopping reason for NOT using a debitcard but every little helpsPlus, using a CC card with full repayment every month keeps your credit rating ticking over. Also, if you don't regularly use a CC there's the danger of it being cancelled, which will never happen with a DC.
I guess the only downside to using a CC is if you have problems with budgeting and end up spending more than you can afford.

I use my credit card for everything. The sole use my debit card gets is withdrawing cash from machines - and I haven't done that since last February. The benefit of this approach is that I have no need to worry about whether or not there's enough cash in my bank account. The credit card consolidates all of my spending, so that I only have to think about one bill to settle each month. Anything left over can be dropped into savings. I've deliberately arranged for my credit card bills to get produced a few days before I get paid, with payment due a few days after that. That way, I can just sort out my financial dispositions once a month, and then forget about it until next payday.

All my spending goes on CC & paid off from bank account.
Sure the you are not going to need S75 on daily spend (but it's not exactly something that gets used a lot anyway)
Rather have money in my account.
Not bothered about Credit rating, in fact paying on CC and paying a CC each month is good for your credit history.Life in the slow lane1 -

Credit card for everything where possible.Always paid in full by DD, never pay a single penny in interest.Only use a debit card where a credit card isn't accepted or would be more expensive (e.g. cash withdrawals).Virtually never use cash these days, but still carry a small amount just in case, and a bit of loose change in the car for the odd car park that doesn't allow card payments.0

I used to use the CC for everything (specifically, the Tesco one to get points) but I now have the TSB Spend & Save account which pays £5 a month if you make 30 transactions. That's a pain in itself, enjoyably doing five separate small transactions for each grocery shop while tying up the self-scan, but hey, a fiver is a fiver... I still use the CC for bills and larger purchases.
I would still go with the CC if you don't have a current account giving a benefit, since it's a bit more useful on your credit history.0 -
I use CC since it still pays cashback, provides S75 protection, and it helps build a credit history.0
