Let the bank investigate on Monday. How exactly was it taken - Direct Debit or a Debit Card payment? (The protection available varies; it also matters whether you remain in credit or were taken into overdraft.)
Also call the bank for an update - you either need an immediate refund or ask if they can give you a temporary interest free overdraft.
While banks will say it's a dispute with the company - if you're super confident you did not spend the 250, then you can say it was an unauthorised payment and that you'd like an immediate refund. This is covered under section 76 of the Payment Services Regulations:
- If a payment is unauthorised, you're entitled to an immediate refund, and your bank must restore your account as if they payment had not happened (i.e. cancel any overdraft fees).
- The bank does have the right to investigate just in case it's a fraudulent claim on your behalf
- Immediate means as soon as practical, and at the latest by the end of the next working day. So if you speak to them again on Monday, then then would be by the end of Tuesday.
There is very detailed guidance on pages 121 - 124 of https://www.fca.org.uk/publication/finalised-guidance/fca-approach-payment-services-electronic-money-2017.pdf
Slightly simpler guidance in the same area is:
https://www.fca.org.uk/consumers/unauthorised-payments-account
https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/debt-and-money/banking/your-payment-card-was-used-without-your-permission-distance-sales/
https://www.which.co.uk/consumer-rights/advice/how-to-complain-about-unauthorised-transactions-on-your-card
For a temporary overdraft explain it is so you can continue to pay your direct debits until the payment taken in error is refunded, explaining that you're a vulnerable customer and won't otherwise have the funds available to pay the direct debits.

I think maybe you just have to put it more firmly to the bank that this was a fraudulent transaction. I had something similar with Halifax and was refunded straight away. I'm guessing you left the bank with the impression that you're not sure whether you spent the money and you're trying to remember what you might have bought. It sounds like that's how it's coming across on here to a lot of people1

Make a formal complaint to your bank - which bank is it and someone could help point you in the right direction.
