Does the washing machine heat the water from your boiler or does it heat it by itself?

If the glass door gets warm during the washing cycle the water is being heated.
Wouldn’t it get warm if the washer was using hot water from an external source?
Clearly yes, but the op wants to know if their clothes are being washed in hot water.

Thanks for clarifications. I didn't think of the rinse being cold. I think I was expecting hot because the place before last (the previous one I had no washer at all so had to do by hand so really glad of having one again :)) they used to come out hot but that had I dryer as well and this one doesn't. I knew that of course however I didn't know what to expect in terms of temps when they come out of a no dry washer.

One thing I will add which was a concerning on one wash was there was grey smoke coming out after the spin had done. It smelt like burned rubber or something. I haven't noticed it since though and don't 2 more washes. Maybe it was just the brakes or something when the spin slows itself down?
Hopefully it is not a hotpoint machine?

Sounds like it will need a new belt soon . .

Thinking about it, the smoke might be a sign that the drum was overloaded and the belt was struggling to turn the drum

I don't think any on the wider UK market these days have two fill hoses. They are standard in Australia and I was quite surprised that I could not source one at all when I moved here.

Most washers will do 2-3 rinses after the wash cycle (all in cold water) meaning that even if you had selected the boil wash, by the time three rinses and spins have happened they will be stone cold. The exception would be a wool wash which does a gradual cool down and might still feel tepid at the end.

Ebac offer a hot fill option on all their UK machines, though at extra cost.

Probably the temperature difference, in our cooler climate the hot water sitting in the pipes is going to get cold very quickly and so you end up either discarding the cold "hot" water until it gets to temperature or having a heating element in the hot fill washing machine anyway. And as new hot water is drawn from the boiler it will sit in the pipes, cooling down and wasting more money.

Modern machines don't use much water and modern detergent doesn't require high temperatures (over 40 degrees will supposedly kill off the enzymes in a biological washing liquid).
