Does it save much money to switch off the hob switch (orange light) and same with oven/hood fans?

You know how there is a row of switches you switch on for each thing. Sometime they don't have lights on them but in the new place I moved to they do. So I had been switching them on/off before/after use. The only one that stays on is the fridge (obviously).

The oven on the front also has a digital clock which you have to set each time you switch it on or the oven won't start.

So I wonder is the money saved from switching them off when not in use negligible? The MSE in me makes me feel it is wasteful to have those orange lights on when 90% of the time the appliances aren't in use.

Indicator lights are LED, these days, so only use a tiny fraction of a Watt. Not worth worrying about. Changing all the lighting in the house to LED will save you a good deal.
  • Leave them on. Especially if you have to set the oven clock if turned off. The inconvenience and time spent doing this every time will outweigh any very small savings on electric and I do mean very small.
