Astounding price increases!

I feel your pain!  Just fixed again with my currently provider octopus. It’s more than my current tariff but there were so few cheaper providers offering a minimal reduction i figured what’s the point of switching.

I only get a  'Octopus Direct 12M Fixed' tariff via the quote on their website, which is even dearer than the price I found just after Xmas, which was £70 dearer than when I'd looked at the beginning of the month?! 16.2015p for electricity 
I'm currently with Octopus myself, think I'll be struggling to stay with them when my fix is up.

In my region Green ( who  have been regarded are one of cheapest energy suppliers) 12 month fix Electricity and Gas both kwh rates and standing charge on offer to new customers are higher than that Octopus Tariff

Octopus 12 Month Fix Tariffs that are named December Electricity Kwh rates nearer to 17p kwh rate than 16p, those that are named November were a lot cheaper

The renewal offer from Green would have increased my monthly payment for leccy only by £20 !!
