Help with internet connection

Options
Tried to use my laptop this morning. It’s loading some pages really slowly, not loading others, getting a “no internet page” even when the internet is connected.

I’ve rebooted the laptop and reset the router several times.

When I use the windows troubleshooter thing on the “no internet page” it says something about not able to detect proxy settings.

When trying to watch a video it was going on about ad blocker and then DRM.

Going crazy as to why!

warning - not technically minded.

For starters try a different browser. Edge or Chrome.  Is the laptop ok apart from that? eg starts up quickly?
If you put your general location in your Profile, somebody here may be able to come and help you.
  • I’ve tried three browsers. It’s a new laptop, three months old. I’ve checked with EE on the telephone and they have said it’s all connected but did some remote resets anyway.

Seems to load my gmail emails.

For example I’ve tried loading itv hub in the browser, it’s loaded, on each of the videos it had a loading symbol, clicked the one I wanted, takes me to a no internet page, when I click on network diagnostics it shows windows could not automatically detect the network proxy settings, but then next to it says detected.

Next obvious things... Windows update (three month old laptop may have come with an oldish version of Windows10);  try an ethernet cable (if laptop has an ethernet port)....  then  time to look at your wifi.

  • I checked the update which was fine.

I followed a video online YouTube which guided me through some troubleshooting.

    It’s working now.
  • Thought I’d come back and ask for some more help. I’m having the same issues. Even have a new router off my service provider. Working on all other devices. Just the same error with the laptop. Fully up to date as I’ve checked.
  • Tell eveyone what the make and model of the laptop is
