Do I have to use probate

I have made a will but ive been looking into the question of probate it seems to me as this is another attempt to squeeze more money out of me after death.

Dead people can’t do probate so the answer is no. Whether your executors will have to or not depends on what assets you own at the time of death, but as you have not provided any information on that no one can say.
If your estate is small and only consists of cash and chattels it probable will not be needed, if you own a house and it is not passing to a spouse or joint owner it will be needed, as it will if you own things like stocks and shares.

You could appoint one of the main beneficiaries as the executor. there is a cost to probate but it is often needed if there are significant assets, as the post above states, if the executor is competent and your estate is not complicated then it should just be the probate fee that is paid0
