My son foolishly put money into these people, was his uni rent. I was cross but now feel sad for him, he is quite a naive boy for his age. Clever academically but naive. He was trying to make some money to pay me back for bailing him out last term with rent after being subject to scammers. Some work to do on educating him more of ‘life’. Is there anything we can do to get money back? They wanted him to send another £50 to get a refund. Obviously I won’t be slowing that. If someone could offer some advice that would be great. I don’t know where to start really.

  • If he sent it by bank transfer then the money is gone for good - no point writing anything else.
I believe that banks have stopped crypto transactions via credit card because they were getting lots of S. 75 claims - not sure if this also applies to debit cards.

You mention that this is not the first time you have bailed him out - there is naïve    and then something else - if you get my drift. You need to get it into his head there is no get rich scheme that will benefit him.

I have had a look at a website that you wrote in your header (not going to advertise it here with a link) - seems slick, everything safeguarded etc etc but to me a scam based in N Zealand? Who knows where they are in the real world?
  • Don't bail him out again. He needs to learn a lesson. He's an adult, let him take it on the chin, get a job and learn the true value of money.
  • I won’t be. Unfortunately probably a lot down to me, I’ve always treated him with same streetwise intelligence I had but he really doesn’t have that. He’s a bit different to most people his age and very trusting of others. He also can’t get his part time job back given the times we are in so that hasn’t helped. Certainly learning some lessons.
