Epson XP-202 scanner over wifi problem

Hi folks
My old but trusty Epson XP-202 printer/scanner is connected to my laptop via wifi - but although I can still PRINT over wifi, the Epson Scan app which I use now tells me it cannot connect via wifi. I've uninstalled then reinstalled the software etc etc but still no joy. Strangely, the Windows Scan app ( which I have never used before) CAN connect via wifi.
Any clever people got any ideas ?

"By default Epson Scan is set to scan via a USB cable, and will present an error if Epson Scan is opened and a scanner is connected via a network or Wi-Fi connection. The [above] article explains how to change the settings in Epson Scan to allow scanning via a network or Wi-Fi connection."

Thanks for that Neil. I've followed the info in the link - all the settings were as they should be.
I connected via usb cable and also by the epson print app on my phone and they both work fine. It's just from my laptop that I cannot connect. I don't know if this could be the issue, but about a week ago, there was a large Windows (10) update. I wonder if this has caused all the fun and games.0
