Miele C3 Vaccum confusion...

Hi, I have a Miele C3 celebration power line vacuum, about 5 years old and going strong. I recently realised I've never changed the filter, because I didnt use it much until the last few months. It has a HEPA filter in currently, but when I bought a new pack of bags they came with very simple little material filters. The issue is they dont fit in the same place, Im guessing you need some kind of cage to mount them in? Can anyone confirm this, and tell me what this part might be called
But I did just put the material filter in the same place, and it works, I'm guessing it just gets sucked completely against the outlet of the vacuum, so its probably doing its job fine? What do you think?

Yeah I've just put the new material filter in the place where the HEPA filter was, but its surely not the way its meant to go because its so lose. I have a feeling there must be some sort of extra plastic piece that clicks in and these material filters go into that. I just dont know what, and wonder if its even necessaryAskAsk said:is that a pic of the new filter in place? if so i don't understand what the question is?0 -

Ok yeah he has this holder part I don't have. I just don't know what thats called, or if I can just put the material filter in without it0

but that grey grill is the part that holds the filter though? you have to put that grey grill on top surely? the one that you are holding in your hand.delmonta said:

That "grey grill" is the filter, it's a complete unit.AskAsk said:

Thanks I just ordered a HEPA one. But you do get a free material filter with each bag that fits in that slot, but it appears to need some sort of cage to clamp it in, as shown in the video. But this HEPA one should last a year now0

Some Miele vacuums come with a simple paper filter and a hinged plastic cage holder it fits in ( Miele M.-Nr.0598697 is embossed on my one ) and then clips into the same place.
aka Miele Exhaust filter holder https://www.amazon.de/Miele-Filtergitter-S5000er-Neuware/dp/B00QX1SSQI
Others Miele vacuums come with better exhaust filters that are changed complete, with activated charcoal for smell removal or HEPA filters for the dust allergic. SF-AA 50 charcoal and SF-HA 50 Hepa are the most likely for your C3. Read your manual to check the ones that will fit yours. https://www.miele.co.uk/e/miele-dustbags-and-filters-1022153-c is the range Miele uk sell direct. It may be worth asking if the can supply the simple paper filter holder?
You may find a second hand one on eBay or similar?
We only got the cage/holder in the very basic C3 we got more recently our Cat and Dog C3 came with an AA fitted. I use the AAs in both our C3s normally.1 -
Thanks yeah I was slowly working all this out! I ended up ordering the HEPA HA50 because it was only £18.99 from Kenco spares, not much more than the SA onesRodders53 said:Some Miele vacuums come with a simple paper filter and a hinged plastic cage holder it fits in ( Miele M.-Nr.0598697 is embossed on my one ) and then clips into the same place.
