Wickes not communicating - can i cancel DD

Hi everyone,
Super quick one and looking for advice.  I've agreed terms for installation of a bathroom.  The Wickes employed fitter broke over £1000 worth of product, which he admitted to me immediately (great - i can work with that).  Wickes are not communicating with me regarding the removal of the products from my bill, but they have set up a DD with the bank.  The products are still in my living room, and I don't want to pay for something that is going to cost over a grand, with interest on top.  Can I cancel the DD?  I've opened a complaint with Resolver as Wickes are not returning any of my emails, so the issue itself will get resolved in the long run, but for now should I refuse to start paying?  Am I agreeing that work is complete as expected if I start paying?  Thanks,

I would not as it could have further implications.

I suspect that your credit agreement is not with Wickes, but with a 3rd party, and it's the 3rd party who have set up the DD.

    For example, Wickes website says:
Wickes Building Supplies Limited is a Credit Broker for Credit provided by the Lender: Clydesdale Financial Services Limited trading as Barclays Partner Finance (“Barclays Partner Finance”).
    Link: https://www.wickes.co.uk/bathrooms/finance

So it might be worth phoning whoever your lender is, and explaining the problem, to see what they suggest. As a credit provider, they are likely to be jointly liable for any breach of contract.

(And if you simply don't pay without explaining why to the lender, the lender might put a default marker on your credit file.)

When you say DD and "cost over a grand, with interest on top" do you mean you took out finance? Who is the finance with?
You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride
