Materials paid for but no work carried out

Last summer, our fence between our back garden and neighbours blew down. We received a few quotes and settled on a local company. We paid for the materials (over £500) at end of August, on the understanding that the fence would be fitted early October. We heard nothing more and so followed up at the beginning of October, when we were told that there had been a delay in some of the materials and that this had led to a backlog of work so did we mind November fitting? We agreed to this.
Long story short, we’ve had the same story now over and over again. I eventually got fed up and contacted them demanding a date. They said “Either the first or second weekend of Jan 2021, depending on weather.”
And here we are - second weekend of Jan with no contact from them and no response to my messages.

It’s been almost 5 months since we paid for the materials and I’ve really had enough. Can I request that they give us what we’ve paid for and we’ll find someone else to do the fitting?
