Utility Point compensation claim
Options
Hi All
After leaving Utility Point back in October I have been waiting 12 weeks for them to refund me outstanding credit. Everytime I contacted them they just kept fobbing me saying I will be paid it within 10 working days. Anyway after bombarding them all week on every social media platform somebody finally called me today to say they are refunding me my outstanding credit along with £30 compensation as they didn't refund me within 10 working days of receiving my final bill. I was under the impression that I am entitled to another £30 compensation on top of this? I've checked on Ofgem and Money Saving expert but don't understand the what it's actually saying? It says:
If an energy firm breaches any of these standards, it'll have to pay you the automatic compensation within 10 days of the missed deadline. If it fails to do this, it will have to pay a further £30.
Can anyone clarify what this means and am I entitled to the extra £30?
Thanks

Thank you. She said they follow the Ofgem code. I suggested they go and read the Ofgem rules again.1

I suggested they go and read the Ofgem rules again.Utility Point are mostly going by this which is a later OFGEM Publication and does not mention additional £30 for failing to pay £30 Compensation within 10 working days of breach https://www.ofgem.gov.uk/consumers/household-gas-and-electricity-guide/how-switch-energy-supplier-and-shop-better-deal/compensation-if-there-s-energy-switch-problem, also not mentioned https://www.ofgem.gov.uk/publications-and-updates/new-customer-compensation-payments-further-improve-switchingHowever when people have complained to Energy Ombudsman every response that I have seen displayed has been refund of ....... will be paid within 3 working days to include £60 compensation inline with OFGEM regulations, some of those who have gone to small claims court have reported getting £60 compensation plus £25 court fees refunded, however I have seen U.P say they paying £60 court fees and £30 compensation, others have had £30 compensation and £25 court fees ( must depend on what people request)Some have found U.P willingly paid £60 compensation in first instance ( that was my experience) others have got the additional £30 after complaining and citing 30 April 2019 OFGEM publication which MSE newsletters have always quoted most recent being 2 days ago0
