Hi. just wondering which antivirus to put on this laptop. its got windows 10, so will the inbuilt windows defender be good enough or do I need something extra? there are loads to choose from. I'm with talktalk and they have a basic one called homesafe. just wondering what your thoughts are.

Unless you visit some really dodgy sites windows own inbuilt plus Malwarebytes is more than enough0

+!, no need for anything more than W10's own Defender and occasional scans using Malwarebytes.0

ok. I done that. its all up n working. I assume the free edition malawarebytes is the one to have? thats the one I downloaded.0

Yep, do occasional scans with it.

W10 defender, scan every now and again with MalwareBytes, and don't download 'free-movies.exe'.0

Same as always for me Kaspersky + Malwarebytes scan plus occasional other scans for pups etc .

Thanks for this. I’ve not logged on here for years. Feel out of the loop with laptops etc but recently bought one for my sons schooling. The AV trial has ran out and I was considering buying a years subscription.0

1. First line of defence is Trend Micro AI Protection Pro on my Asus router - "Commercial-Grade Home Network Security" according the the marketing bumf. A cloud based security that stops malicious links and has two-way IPS (proper firewall) and infected device blocking.
2. Another line of defence is Cloudflare anti-malware DNS - 1.1.1.2 configured on the router.
3. Windows security on the Win 10 machines.
4. All IoT devices are on an isolated network if they don't need access to other devices.0
