My wife died in August 2020 (not from Covid-19) Over the years, I have bought things for her online and now I keep getting emails from the companies I bought things from encouraging me to buy the same things again, The latest is from Marks and Spencer. But there is nothing on their web site that I can find which allows me to alter these emails to reflect my situation. I might like to buy stuff from M&S for myself in the future so I don't want to unsubscribe. How can I tailor their emails to my current circumstances?

At the bottom of each email there should be an 'unsubscribe' option. Tick that and you should stop receiving their junk mail.#2 Saving for Christmas 2024 - £1 a day challenge. £325 of £3661

If you go to M & S and spend 5 or 10 mins looking at things you do want. Pop them in your basket (signed on as you), keep refreshing. That should work.
Also on Facebook or insta, look at things you do like but don't necessarily want to buy yet to set the algorithm for history to be more what you do like.Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....0 -
I'd send an email to their customer services - there's probably a 'contact' option on the website.
I know, for example, that some companies will send you an email just before certain occasions and say "we realise not everyone want to celebrate ... so just let us know and we'll opt you out of those emails". The latest I've seen is for Valentine's Day, but I think I've seen others.Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
I'm sorry for your loss.
I agree with Savvy_Sue - contact customer services nd ask whether there is a way to stop this - there may not be, in which case the suggestion 77jx makes should help, but it's worth flagging it up to suggest to M&S that they offer the option to tailor ads / suggestions to avoid causing distress to people in your situation.
an alternative would be to unsubscribe and then use a different e-mail address when you shop there in future, but obviously that is less convenient for you.All posts are my personal opinion, not formal advice Always get proper, professional advice (particularly about anything legal!)0
