Good luck  and remember the old adage...”the most important thing you can wear to an interview...is a SMILE!”  :)
    Depends on the job.

I've always found "clothes" to be helpful, but I can see that might be optional for some positions.

I’ve always  found ‘clothes’ to be essential.

With your user name, there may be jobs available otherwise. I gather there's videos online describing the interview process...

    I don’t do that anymore.

I'd recommend looking at public transport options too; it's way better to spend 50 minutes on a train with a book than 40 minutes in a car.
No trains - Beeching saw to that.

Either X46 to Durham then X12 to Newcastle which will take abound one and a half hours, or X46 to Durham, walk up the hill then get the train, which will take just over an hour in total (and be pricey but arguably not against the petrol and wear and tear of driving it).  Bus then train option will be just over an hour.
I'd bear the bus then train option in mind when you start driving, because you may find you're spending nearly an hour anyway and for me at least it was much better to read or watch a film than getting annoyed by traffic. Making connections adds a bit more risk though, depending on how frequent the buses and trains are.
  • Pre covid, my commute of 20 miles each way took between 45 minutes to an hour.  One memorable time it took 5 hours to get home (that was due to the M4/M5 being closed).

  • My commute is 15 mins each way and I consider that the max I'm willing to do. I may commute further if the money was right. Yes that's what it's all down to, more money = further I'll travel.

Like others have said it all depends on your personal opinion and you need to think about how long your current commute is and how you feel about that.

Personally i have a less than 10 minute cycle ride to work and back each day, so i get a good bit of exercise at the same time. So the thought of wasting a massive 1 hour and 20 minutes every single day sounds pretty rubbish to me. But for some people they don't mind at all and think it's perfectly normal.

my commute is currently about 30 seconds from Bed to Lounge.
Long commutes eat into your day and steal you life, no getting away from it, 2 hours a day 5 days a week for a year.... just think what you would do if someone gave 10 hours a week to do whatever you wanted with ? Don't rush to give that away.

    Couldn’t agree more.

p.s.  if that 30-second commute starts to take its toll you could start a new trend by ‘working from bed’. :)
