Santander Credit Card Limit Increase

Hi,

I've recently taken out a Santander All In One Credit Card with an opening limit of £4200. I have just received my 3rd statement and have found each month I am spending £4000 and paying the balance in full. I am putting all my spending on this card to avail of the cashback. Does anyone know when you are likely to be offered a credit limit increase? I’ve checked on my online banking and it’s not letting me slide the slider over further to increase the limit. The reason I am looking to increase this is to have my utilisation score lower each month without having to lose out on potential cashback.

Can anyone that has been offered a credit limit increase on this card please let me know when you received this offer and how often they are reviewed.

Thanks

Generally most credit cards require 6 months of usage of your credit card before they will consider a credit limit increase.

Took me around the 1 year mark for a Credit increase. I had a £3700 limit initially with Santander, most of the time it was min payments but every now and again would pay a few hundred at a time.

Oh and they never offered it, i just tired the slider one day and it increased it. So they could have offered it before the year to be honest, i just never checked. I maybe checked once after 3 or 4 months then again after a year.

Ok thanks so much. Was the increase option notified to you or did you just have to keep checking the slider? Just conscious credit utilisation will be high at the minute but getting £20+ cashback a month by doing my spending on this card.

I got my All In One card in March and immediately transferred all of my other limits with Santander to it to give me a limit of £10,700 on the card. This month was the first time the slider has let me increase the limit, although I don't check often so could have been available earlier than I realised.

Santander usually let you increase every 6 months. I always increase mine; the slider just adjusts to the level they're happy to let you increase by but typically it's around 20% - 30% increase.

I have 3 cards with them and my lowest was £6200 and went to £7900 then £10500 then £15000. Last increase was November.

I should add, they're my main bank and I do put tens of thousands through it monthly so the fact I've over £70k of credit available doesn't phase them increasing my limits.

Ok I have only had the card since the start of October so it will likely be April before i see any change. I’m just hoping the fact that I am clearing the balance in full each month will outweigh the credit utilisation.

Nothing to stop you going online & trying the slider.

I have checked earlier today and it still isn’t letting me move the slider. I’ll keep an eye on it each month when I get my statement - I more so wanted to get an indication of how long it took everyone else to get their first increase.

What you pay doesn't change their algorithm I wouldn't expect. I had a £5k balance on my BT card but decided to pay it off after 3 months as I don't like owing money when I'm earning nothing on the hard cash in savings - and my limits were still increased every 6 months.

By the way it's not 6 months statement it's 6 months from opening. So if you opened in October, they'll likely let you increase around middle of March. They update the CRA's around the middle so any increases will be available around 16th - 20th I find.

No harm in clicking the increase limit tab. If the slider is at the max then try next month and every month around 16th.
