Indesit part received late. Told to refuse delivery but Hermes left it on my doorstep

Hi, sorry this is a bit of a long post.
My washing machine developed a fault which looked like a blocked filter so I removed it and it snapped in two.
Tried ringing Indesit as I had only had the washing machine for 8 weeks so I was hoping they would send out a new filter but every time I rang I got an automated message saying to ring back the next day as they were busy and their live chat wasn't working, so I decided to just buy one as I need my washing machine due to my son having a medical condition which requires me to do a lot of washing.

This was the 02/01/2021. I got an email saying it would arrive between 07/01/2021-11/01/2021.
By the 12/01/2021 it still hadn't arrived and I still couldn't get hold of Indesit so I ordered a new one off eBay.

I finally got hold of Indesit by going through Facebook and getting a different phone number for them. I explained to the person on the phone that I wanted to cancel the order because after it not arriving on time I ordered the part from someone else. The woman said that it had now left the warehouse and to refuse delivery and that way it would be returned to them and I would get a refund.

Well today it was delivered by Hermes and left on my doorstep so I couldn't refuse delivery. Now I am expected to pay out of my own pocket to return it.

So my questions are: Is there any law I can quote at them so I don't have to pay to return it? And can I get my money back for the original delivery charge due to the fact that it was delivered on the 14/01/2021 and not the 11/01/2021 by the latest that they had told me?
Thanks in advance.

No. At what point did I say that? I removed the filter and it snapped in two. How is that deliberate?

I turned it in the direction that the instructions tell you to, pulled it out and it snapped in two.

How does removing a filter equate to deliberately braking a filter?

Why don't you just keep it as a spare as it seems that the Indesit filters break very easily so when it happens again you can just replace it in a few seconds and then not have to worry about being without a working machine.
