Redundancy and a new secondment

Options
I’m due to leave my company through redundancy in feb 2021. But a secondment role for 6months has come up. What I’m trying to find out is - if I took this role and in 6months the secondment finishes would I then be entitled to my redundancy package.

If the secondment is continuous with your current contract and after it ends there is no other suitable work, you would again be in a redundancy situation.  Your redundancy package could be greater than it is now if you passed an anniversary of your contract start date.

The only way I could see you not getting at least your currently expected package is if it included any special terms offered by your employer, ie additional to the statutory entitlement, which it was not going to continue to offer.
  • That’s what I was thinking, but when I’ve asked our HR department they could not confirm and said it would be hiring manager. So reluctant to take without some confirmation.

What's it got to do with the hiring manager?  It's the "firing" manager who's involved in redundancy.  You just need to be sure that there is no break in your employment.
Do you currently have an "enhanced" (ie more than statutory) redundancy package on offer?

You don't normally get enhanced redundancy just because of length of service. Does your company pay more than the statutory minimum redundancy and if they do is there any risk to that if you take the secondment?
