Money box ISA

I’m currently in the early stages of buying a house and I was advised by my mortgage advisor that if I use my money box ISA that the solicitors could charge a fee for me using it. Solicitors haven’t yet got back to me about the fee but was wondering if anyone has been in the same situation and knew that this fee could be??

  • I assume you mean Moneybox lifetime ISA ?
Don’t believe there is a standardised fee they can charge but solicitor we are using quoted £100 in total (2 x £50) for using 2 x LISA (both with Moneybox although provider won’t impact the fee I’m sure). (Got a number of quotes and all were the same from what I remember)

Under the old HTB ISA scheme the conveyancer's additional charges were capped at £50 +vat however with a LISA the work is a bit difference as the bonus has already been added into the account but there are still the declarations to process and an additional funding source so £50 +vat (per account) is probably also reasonable. See what your solicitors quote and ensure you have told them you are using a LISA to avoid them presenting the charge later.
