Given the reliability of the TSB website it is possible that the problem lay elsewhere.

    lol, sarcasm right?
TSB has grabbed fewer headlines in 2020 but 2019 was an absolute abysmal year for the reliability of their online banking!
A dream is not reality, but who's to say which is which?

I have a TSB account and still find that their website is the most unreliable one of various bank accounts that I access online.

    What browser are you using?

    Why not use the app?
    Duck duck go.

The app is an absolute Godsend if your phone falls into the wrong hands. In a single click, a would-be identity thief gets what could take hours to determine (if at all) i.e. the owners surname and forename, guaranteed to be correct.
The phone you have locked via pincode/fingerprint?

The right question here is, is the phone encrypted? Do you have to enter a pin/password/fingerprint to actually boot the phone up after turning it off and on again?
The answers to your questions are don't know (second-hand phone) and yes, but surely these are academic as I believe only an iPhone's password system can't be cracked,  even with the full IT resources of the FBI.
