Difficult for anyone to comment meaningfully in a vacuum without sight of all the other factors visible to the IFA making the recommendations - how old are you, when do you anticipate accessing this pension, what are your other pension arrangements (if any), how much income do you anticipate needing in retirement, what's your risk tolerance, etc?0

I'm 56 , hoping to retire at 60 , at my first discussions with my ifa he advised a cautious /passive profile , there has been poor growth last 3 years since I took the sipp, hoping for better results with the changes0
-
Cautious and passive are unrelated strategies .
Presume the IFA was being cautious because you said you were a bit risk averse or some similar comment ?0 -

I'm sorry this should be in pensions forum , is there a way of transferring it ?0

VLS40 discrete performance for the last three years is +18% .
If your investments realised less, I'd say you're entitled to feel concerned with the performance over that time.

Sorry to read that johnnyren.
Did you raise a concern with your Independent Financial Adviser, or was he proactive in changing your portfolio?0 -
He was pro active , the previous portfolio was mainly invested in pru fund growth series a , but felt I hadn't performed well so advised these changes , I lost a bit during the last year due to the pandemic0
