The petition calling for extension when originally hit 10k signatures the response was a big fat NO (in Dec).
The petition is now nearing 79k signatures, when it reaches 100k it may be up for debate in parliament (petition was at 52k signature early last week and seem to be gaining momentum)
So possibility of it getting extended, but if I were you I'd be prudent and budget for SD payment

I’d expect it probably will. Yes it’s creating a false bubble that may burst eventually but apart from the money rolling in for EAs, solicitors, removals etc - also moving prompts a lot of purchases ( beds, carpets, etc) and with the amount the government is spending vs the amount that are losing in tax revenue they need to keep parts of the economy going. I think the revenue associated with the housing market has a lot less risk to health than retail shops or restaurants/pubs1

Problem is they probably won’t announce it until the end of March as this government can’t seem to plan more than a couple of days ahead......1

There is a Budget due on 3 March 2021. If it is going to happen, that would be the time to announce it.0
