Dry Verge on Roof

Hi all,
The mortar on my roof verges has started crumbling and falling out. Had a roofer (who I have used before) out to have a look. Suggested they can clear out and re-mortar but have suggested going for a dry verge system for longevity as he feels the roof generally is in pretty good condition so not going to need replaced in the next few years.
The previous owners have had quite a few "patch" fixes to the mortar.
I've been quoted £1650 to remove all mortar, extend battens, fit dry verge, fit new end caps and re-bed down end ridges.
I have no idea if this is a decent price (4 bed house, 2 long side verges, plus large and small front verges plus garage slope verge).
Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Yes, I think that is a fair price if they are going to use scaffolding, which they should. The scaffolding cost will be about £800, which means you are paying about £800 for the materials and labour to fit, which feels about right. The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.1

What did he quote for the lesser job - just replacing the mortar? And would he need scafolding for that? And how do the prices for the two jobs compare with the other roofer you asked to quote (you have got more than one quote yes?)0

Hi all, sorry it's been a while. Thanks for the replies.
I presumed scaffolding but it wasn't confirmed.
He hasn't given me a price yet for the lesser job of replacing the mortar, although it has been requested.
Second (and recommended but apparently pricey) roofer came out today to offer a quote which I should get in a couple of days.
Will update when they quote also.

I've just had this job done and it cost me £920 inc scaffolding, removal of waste etc. They also stripped off first 4 rows of tiles to replace the felt and battens. Your first quote seems a tad high however that may because of where you are in the UK. A few more quotes might help you0

Well my second quote came back today... £2,440! And they felt they could do the job completely without scaffolding...0
