EDIT: Thank you for the help all. Just gonna leave it edited now, as I feel embarassed for even asking about this in the first place. Not something I'll look back on with pride haha.

I have never seen anything look more scammy. Nothing about it looks legit, plus you say you havent had a car for 14 years! I dont understand why you think it looks legit!1

Yes its a scam; anything to do with the DVLA/government etc would have a .gov.uk domain
The domain in question was only registered yesterday and has used a Malaysian company to hide the identity of who's registered it.
The DVLA's own website by comparison was registered in 2003 and is openly registered to the DVLA1 -
Think carefully - how could/would the DVLA have gotten you phone number (unless you signed up to an SMS reminder ofc)
Also, what have YOU changed that would result in a refund being due1 -
Of course it's a scam - what on earth looks convincing about it? Why would the DLVA be using the domain "refund-ref064.com"? Why would they spontaneously be offering you a refund, even if you had had a vehicle more recently than 14 years ago?0

I'm sorry?Vanchatron said:I'm usually one of the first people to recognise a scam, but strangely this actually seems to look somewhat legitimate so far.0 -

Also, what have YOU changed that would result in a refund being dueYeah, stupidity on my part but as I'm currently in the process of dealing with some other benefit related issues I figured the phone number I've got could perhaps be passed on to DVLA, as they're all government related. No worries though, thank you for the help guys/gals, I appreciate it.0 -

"Somewhat" legitimate. I just meant in terms of the pages looking similar to what the DVLA uses. I definitely wasn't going to fill any of the forms out. I was 95% sure it was a scam anyway, but just figured I'd post here for the extra 5% confirmation.

Just clicking on random links is enough to get you into trouble. Get someone else to check your messages going forward before you open anything up. The link itself is enough to tell you that it's fake, let along the wonky content and the fact that a government website apparently doesn't have a £ symbol on their keyboard.
Oh - and you not having a car.0 -
Side note but I don’t think government organisations share info like this, I think even sharing between diff departments of the same arm (like DWP,DVLA,HMRC) is limited to when it’s absolutely necessary and I don’t think the DVLA could pull your contact info from DWP.Vanchatron said:ToxicWomble said:Think carefully - how could/would the DVLA have gotten you phone number (unless you signed up to an SMS reminder ofc)

A shame to delete it, it might have helped others receiving the same email.1
