Today had a little look around a well known electrical retailer eyeing up monitors.....
and this wiped the floor with the competition..

the clarity of this blew me away....
this is an LCD monitor...
i thought TFT and LCD where the same??
the TFTs looked "dull" compared to this!!

Do remember that in the shops, they turn the brightness and sharpness up. When you get it home, you will need to do some adjustments, as the defaults are horrendous.
If you have a copy of Monsters Inc, or indeed any pixar dvd, there is a nifty little calibration tool THX optimiser, as one of the extras, to help you get the best picture from your new LCD0 -

It just makes me wonder why some monitors are advertised as TFT and some as LCD...

they are very much the same thing, TFT though is synonymous with monitors and LCD with TV. However, the correct name for them both is actually thin film transistor liquid crystal display or TFT LCD0
