Euro road toll charge / EPC sent me fine - what should I do?

Hi Forum Participants,

I've been sent a "Letter Before Debt Collection" from EPC plc with a charge of £20 related to 5 euros of unpaid motorway tolls when in Portugal over the summer. I wasn't aware of having driven in a motorway with tolls.

Does anyone have any experience with these charges, can they be enforced in the UK? The letter is very threatening, with references to debt collectors, etc. Can UK debt collectors enforce toll charges from Portugal, where there hasn't been a court decision in either country?

If anyone has any experience with ECP /toll charge from abroad to share and also the outcome, that would be great.

Can't be enforced here (even more so after Brexit), and never by a debt collector. Ignore it. 

But please note, this is a private parking forum dedicated to dealing with private parking tickets in the UK, not unpaid motorway tolls in Portugal (or anywhere else in the world). We don't even deal with toll road issues in the UK.
