Has anyone used https://www.diyessentials.com? They seem really cheap but I am wondering about quality.

If anyone is interested I just bought 20 (128mm brushed nickel) bar handles for my kitchen from DIY essentials and they worked out at about £1.50 each and are top quality (made by Hafele I believe) The same handles in B & Q were about £10 a pair! I was nervous about bying these sight unseen as I thought they might be hollow shells but they were solid and top quality. I am well pleased at the saving and they only took 4 days to get here.0

They seem fine... also another good place to look is:

Do loads of trade stuff, but have some great handles on there too...CarQuake / Ergo Digital0 -
I looked at Screwfix too but they were £3 per handle.0

Recently refitted our kitchen and wanted some brushed nickel dimpled handles, B&Q price £8 a pair, Wickes £15 for 6 (I think), Argos price for something that looked very similar £10 for TEN, bought 2 packs from Argos and very happy with the quality.0

I bought some from Argos as well for myself and my daughter, they are great value0

No - the handles should go wherever you WANT to put them... which can be different for each person... for example some smaller people prefer handles on top cupboards to be lower...
Just a few thoughts on this:
- (first the blindingly obvious) drawers are different to cupboards. Drawer handles should always be horizontal and centred, cupboard handles should always be vertical and on the opposite end to the hinges
- (second the still obvious) making a template is a GOOD idea once you've decided where your handles should go. For example for cupboards: mark out a piece of cardboard with the two holes where you'll drill the screw holes and which align with the vertical and horizontal edges of the door this then makes marking them up easier
- (third the getting less obvious) Also, mark from the inside of the cupboards in pencil: that way, if you do make a mistake it's far less obvious and can be erased
- (fourth the still less obvious) Remove the doors from the cupboards to drill the holes
- (fifth just some overall advice) Make cupboard handles on low cupboards HIGH, make handles on high cupboards LOW - and, if possible keep the same proportions. Put hinges on cupboards near walls and corners so that the doors swing TOWARDS the wall / corner - making access easier. Symmetry is GOOD if you can't decide where to put the hinges / handles.
Hope this helps.CarQuake / Ergo Digital0 -
I have just fitted a new kitchen and wasnt going to pay the extortionate prices for handled , a quick look on ebay got me all the handles I needed for 60p each , all new in packaging and proper metal not metal over plastic.
As for fitting I measured each on and used a Square and pencil for marking out on the out side of the door (if you drill at an angle the exit holes on the outside are still in the right position) Get a new drill bit for this0 -
Yes we have used screwfix before as they are suppliers of hafele, although they dont list the entire catalogue from memory. You could try dowel.co.uk I think they supply all the cabinet handles, although you have to spend £100 to get free delivery as it's a service aimed at the trade (larger) orders.0
