From a quick look £10 more to buy a printer (so with a full search you may be correct) but taking into account the hours of 'entertainment' the project has provided it was a bargain...fred246 said:I must say I would have just got a wireless printer. Cheaper too I would have thought.
As I'd said earlier in the thread Raspberry Pi's have been of interest for a while but I've never got round to getting one. This was a good excuse to do so and as working the printer is hardly taxing for it I should be able to do plenty more with it.You could use it as a VPN server so you can access your home network when out (remember when you could go out) and enable UK access to catchup services when abroad. Have you set it up to access from your pc using ssh saves you having to use where it is located, mine is in the lounge for a music player into my Hifi, but using ssh I can access it from anywhere my pc/phone/tablet is.

Have you checked to see if your router has a USB plug?
If so it might support USB Printing!Regards

Yes that was an option but I don't think it could support Airprint that way.mikewill34 said:Have you checked to see if your router has a USB plug?

Yes I will have to remember that when I am more mobile again! I have been operating it via SSH but I'm no expert!debitcardmayhem said:You could use it as a VPN server so you can access your home network when out (remember when you could go out) and enable UK access to catchup services when abroad. A fun, simple and very worthwhile project is to run 'Pihole' on your pi.
I puts an ad-blocker on your whole network. Makes a lots of Apps (especially 'free' games) so much more pleasant to play. And, of course, it blocks lots of ads in the web pages you view.
