Cost of a Homebuyers Survey - Too Much?

Hi,

How much should a homebuyers survey cost? We have had quotes ranging from 600-1000 for a 3 bed terrace in Tottenham , , , , What is the 'normal' price to pay (obviously understand in London might be a bit more expensive).

Cheers

Surveyors base their fee upon the value of the house, not the amount of bedrooms

    Right - value is 550-ish?

£1,000 is pretty top heavy for a HomeBuyer as we'd be charging that for a Building Survey.  To give a comparison, we'd be charging £720 inclusive of VAT for a property at that value
  • Think we paid around £550-£600 in 2016, this was in the Midlands

Hard to say as property prices are typically lower elsewhere hence the cost of the survey being less, i.e. recently had a HomeBuyer completed on a property with a value of £104k for £400.

Also, check the surveyor availability as lots are now booking for February, or not taking on instructions full stop.

Cheers - one of the good things is that they will move things around to do it at a few days notice.

Having worked with 3 different firms, it's not possible to "move things around" to squeeze in appointments  :D
