Buyer pulled out after 3 months, close to exchange

We had an offer accepted by our buyer at the start of October,  the paperwork was on its way to the buyer for signing off and exchange. Today the buyer pulled out of buying the house.
Our house is back on the market as of this afternoon and have 2 viewings booked over next 4 days.
On the other hand, we were close to finalising exchange date for our next house. Our vendors have given us till weekend to secure an offer on our property before they put their house on the market again.
Is it fair timeline? I was hoping they would give us atleast 7 to 10 days to find another buyer.
What can we do in such circumstances?

Fair? Unfair? Why does it matter?
If that's what they've decided, that's what will happen (unless they are not serious).
  • Good luck. Our buyer dropped out in day of exchange. 23rd December!
First day back at viewings 28th we got new offer.
It can be done., just very frustrating

This happened to us in November. Ready to exchange on both sale and purchase. Buyer pulled out. We remarketed on the sat afternoon straight away, EA let vendor know Monday morning 10am, but by then we had something like 7 viewings booked in. They gave us 48hrs to get the viewings done and luckily we had an offer that matched our previous one by 9am Tuesday morning. We had originally priced at 10k under valuation as we wanted the house we are trying to buy over anything else we had seen.

I think your vendors are being incredibly nice to give you this week to get an offer.

We are hoping to complete on the 27th (just before mortgage offer expires!) Which will be 6 1/2 months since we saw the house we are attempting to buy 🤦😳
