estate value for Inheritance tax ?

Is the total value of the estate declared for inhertitance tax purposes before or after funeral costs have been paid ?

    The value of the estate is what they had when they died, so before any funeral expenses. Then the debts and expenses are deducted to calculate the inheritance tax

    No, funeral costs are deductible as dept owed by the estate.

    This is not actually the right board for this type of question, any more questions you will be better off posing in the Deaths, funerals and probate board.
