Laptop with Danish Keyboard

For a couple of years, I have had a HP Zbook laptop. It is a top spec machine with the one drawback of having a Danish keyboard -
don't ask why. It is an easy workaround using MS - Spacebar to convert to Eng language and only presents a few problems.
I have had a few issues with key contact and have mucked up a couple of keys trying to remove the keyboard to check ribbon cable.
If I can get an engineer to repair with a new keyboard. Would an English keyboard work without the need to change language via the switch language option.

As someone who uses both windows and Mac keyboards in both English and International Spanish I've never had a computer that automatically identifies the layout but you can go into the settings and fix it to whatever the keyboard is. That said, its rare that I bother as I am reasonably OK at touch typing with the keyboard/OS combination so know " and @ are reversed when using my mac keyboards on my windows laptop etc.

Years ago I switch a laptop's own keyboard and it worked the same with a spanish keyboard replacing an english one

You could use a USB / wireless keyboard

Change the keyboard to an English (UK) version and then set English (UK) as the default keyboard layout. Job done.
